    Fernando Garcia Ponce was born in 1933. Fernando García Ponce studied architecture in the UNAM and painting in the workshop of the Valencian Enrique Climent. His first individual exhibition was in the Gallery of Mexican Art in 1956. Later, with a series of collages, he received an honorable mention in the Salon of the Mexican Plastic. In 1960, he exhibited his work "No. 1", which is considered to be the watershed of his abstract work. He exhibited in the Gallery of Mexican Art and in the Collective of Contemporary Painting of Mexico and South America. The sixties identify with the birth of the movement of the Rupture, of which García Ponce was a predominant painter.
