    Franciszek Zmurko 1859 Lviv - 1910 Warsaw

    He began drawing and painting in Lviv, then he studied with Jan Matejko at the Krakow School of Fine Arts and in Vienna, Rome, and from 1876 to 1880 at the Munich Academy, incl. under the direction of Alexander Wagner.

    A participant of many exhibitions awarded with medals (including the gold medal for the painting Cleopatra 1879), he was recognized by critics and popular with the public.

    He was a member of the Munich Kunstverein. He painted mostly academic-style compositions on ancient, historical, oriental or symbolic themes, in which the anecdotal layer provided an opportunity to present female nudes.
