He was born in Brescia and studied under Pietro Ricchi, Il Lucchese, and Jacques Courtois, Il Borgognone. Monti traveled to cities like Genoa, Rome, and Venice to study the works of other artists before settling in Parma. In Parma, he opened a successful workshop where he trained several artists. His paintings are characterized by dynamic battle scenes filled with smoke, dust, armed men, and rearing horses.
