    Francesco Battglioli was born in 1717 in Modena, Italy. Battglioli was a student of Antonio Joli (1700 Modena - 1777 Naples), and he followed his teacher to Venice in 1737. In Venice, Francesco Battaglioli painted architectural capriccios and vedute, which in perspective and with their diffuse lighting strongly resemble Giovanni Antonio Canal. He also worked as a stage designer for the theatre, including the Teatro di San Cassiano, Venice.
