    Francesco Galante was born in 1884 in Margherita di Savoia, Italy. He attended the institute of fine arts in Naples from 1896 and developed a unique style in his illustrations characterized by a new relationship between line and color. Galante's work showed influences of the Franco-Belgian taste, with large areas of pure colors outlined by double contour signs. He also displayed a preference for thin and elegant lines, reminiscent of the Art Nouveau style. In addition to his graphic work, Galante was also involved in painting, showcasing an impressionist flavor in some of his early works.
