    Francisco Eppens began his studies at the Academy of San Carlos under the guidance of teachers Enrique Ugarte and Ignacio Asúnsolo. From 1935 he worked in the Stamp and Securities Printing Workshops in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of the Federal Government, with the task of executing the originals of the postage stamps and of the fiscal stamps.

    He abandoned this work to make a mural at the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM. In 1969 he was distinguished by the government with the task of drawing and coloring the new shield of the Mexican Nation, currently in use in all official documents.
