    Francois De Ribeaupierre was born in 1886 in Clarens.

    François de Ribaupierre studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva from 1902-1905, then at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and in 1907 at the International Academy in Florence.

    As early as 1911, De Ribeaupierre exhibited his works at the Musée Jenisch in Vevey.

    While his work was initially characterized by Ferdinand Hodler and German Romanticism, he later developed his own style.

    He painted above all Valais landscapes and was known for his more than 400 portraits of the Valaisian and Vaudian peasantry beyond the borders of western Switzerland.

    Francois De Ribeaupierre passed away in 1981.
