    Franklin (Frank) Whiting Rogers
    1854-1917

    Frank Whiting Rogers — active from the 1870s to around 1910 — was born in Cambridge, MA on August 27, 1854 and died in 1917, probably in Hingham, MA, his last recorded address. Best known as a painter of dogs, Rogers also created landscapes, still lifes, coastal scenes, marshes, and a variety of animals in various settings.

    In 1874, Rogers studied with Joseph Foxcroft Cole (1837-1892), Thomas Robinson (1835-1888), and William Morris Hunt (1824-1879). He exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and, over a thirty-year period, with the Boston Art Club.
