    Born in Vienna, Franz Joseph Dobiaschofsky studied at the Academy of Arts from 1830 to 1841, where he attended the classes of Joseph von Führich (1800-1876) and Leopold Kupelwieser (1796-1862). Since 1861 he had been a member of the Vienna ‘Künstlerhaus’, and from 1865 he was also included in the Academic Council. He was mainly focused on religious and historical themes, but he also painted genre scenes and portraits.

    Works by Franz Joseph Dobiaschofsky are preserved, for instance, at the Albertina in Vienna, the Dreifaltigkeitskirche in Salzburg and the Niedersächsische Landesmuseum in Hanover. (cbo)...
