    Frederic Cordey studied at the École des Beaux-Arts* in Paris and met Auguste Renoir. Cordey was also closely related to Jean-Baptiste Guillaumin, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley.

    In 1881, Cordey traveled to Algeria with his friend Auguste Renoir.

    In 1887, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants*, and from 1903 onwards at the Salon d'Automne*.

    His landscape paintings depict mostly motives of the Oise at Auvers, Pontoise and Éragny.
