Friedrich Kaulbach was born in 1822 and died in 1903. He is a historian and portrait painter. As the son of a less well-positioned cabinetmaker, Friedrich had to put his artistic talent into service at an early age. Called by Georg V to Hannover, Kaulbach worked as a Hanoverian court painter and professor at the Technical University of Hannover. Friedrich received numerous awards for his oeuvre, which also includes some large-format and multi-figured history paintings.
