    Friedrich Kraus was a noted and successful 19th century German painter. He first attended the academy at Konigsberg and from there went on to Berlin to further his studies. From 1852-1854 he studied in Paris with noted instructor Thomas Couture. From Paris Kraus went to Rome to paint, eventually returning to Berlin.

    For the rest of his life he exhibited regularly at the Berlin Academy exhibitions and received numerous awards....
