In 1936 he transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg. In addition, Burmann often stayed in the Nida Artists' Colony. His oeuvre includes landscapes, particularly from the Curonian Spit, as well as portraits and still lifes, which show tendencies of the New Objectivity. Burmann died in 1945.
