    Gabriel García Maroto was born in 1889 in La Solana. He studied Drawing at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid. He participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1910. He obtained a scholarship and traveled through Italy, Belgium, Holland and France. In 1919 Gabriel was part of the International Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture in Bilbao and at the Ateneo de Madrid he presented a solo exhibition. In 1921 he established the Maroto Printing House in Madrid, in which the "Book of poems" by Federico García Lorca and Juan Ramón Jiménez was published the first numbers of their magazine Index. He arrived in Mexico in 1928 and collaborated in the magazine "Contemporáneos", of whose members he drew several portraits. official site of the Encyclopedia of Literature in Mexico www.elem.mx...
