    Gaston Rebry (1933 - 2007)

    Gaston Rebry (1) was a Canadian landscape painter.

    He was born in Wevelgem, (Flanders) Belgium. In 1954 he emigrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His home for most of the rest of his life (since c.1956) was Saint Boniface, Quebec a town about 75 miles north east of Montreal. He died about 6 miles west of there in St-Elie-de-Caxton.

    His primary medium was oil paint. His primary subject was the landscape (forests, rivers, lakes, and snowscapes) of the region where he lived in southern Quebec. However, he also painted portraits, village scenes, still life and genre. His style was Fauvism*. AskART have some excellent illustrations of his work.
