    Gennaro Villani was an Italian painter and teacher born in Naples in 1885. He began his artistic career at a young age and lived and worked between Italy and France. Villani was influenced by French impressionists and Fauves painters during his time in Paris from 1912 to 1914. His style evolved to incorporate a freer use of color and diversified chromatic ranges. Villani held teaching positions at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lucca and Naples, becoming a close friend of Neapolitan artists and writers. He passed away in Naples in 1948.
