    Georg Maria Berger was born in Munich, Germany in 1862. He was the son of the Munich architect Mathias Berger. From 1877 until 1884, Georg studied at the Munich Academy with Otto von Seiz and Wilhelm von Diez. He then pursued forestry studies, later working as Counts Arco-Zinneberg's forester in Hohenaschau. Georg Berger later established himself as a painter in Munich and was appointed professor. He was represented in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, numerous publications, and illustrations in jagdlicher. A forest ranger, painter of hunting scenes and animals, Georg Maria Berger died in Munich, Germany in 1942.
