    “George Yater, Herron Art Graduate, Wins Praise From Eastern Critics” by Lucille E. Morehouse

    George Yater, who was graduated from the John Herron Art school in 1932, has begun to build the traditional artist’s “ladder” with good strong rungs, judging from the highly commendatory reviews by art critics that were published in four New York newspapers on the occasion of the young Hoosier’s first one-man show of water color paintings in the Eastern metropolis.

    A scholarship of $350 from the Herron school was given to Mr. Yater for study in the East, when awards were announced at commencement time, and in the summer of 1932 he went to the popular Cape Cod p...
