Over the next 25 years he painted many iconic views of the Scottish residence of the British Royal Family and its 50,000 acres of surrounding Aberdeen-shire countryside. Numerous landscapes by Rennie still remain in some of the properties on the Balmoral Estate but a great many crossed the Atlantic during the first half of the 20th century having been purchased by American visitors to Scotland.
