    Georges Cheyssial was born on December 9, 1907 in Paris, France. He was a painter and designer of figures, genre scenes, and wall decorations. Cheyssial was a pupil of one of the Laurens brothers (probably Paul Albert) at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He won the Prix de Rome in 1932, and studied at the Villa Medici from 1932 to 1937.

    Cheyssial exhibited in Paris, notably at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon d'Automne, winning numerous distinctions, prizes and medals. He was made an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and of the Légion d'Honneur.
