    Victor-Hugo, born in 1868 in France, was the grandson of the renowned French Romantic writer and politician Victor Hugo. After his father's death, he was raised by his famous grandfather and went on to study at the Janson-de-Sailly high school in Paris. Victor-Hugo apprenticed with genre artist Ernest Ange Duez and later joined the French Navy, publishing a collection of memoirs about his naval experiences in 1896. During World War I, he served in the military and created numerous drawings of trench scenes, which were exhibited in Paris. He married in 1894 and had a son, Jean Hugo, who also became a successful artist.Information provided by the user....
