About Gerard Seghers

  • Biography

Gerhard Seghers was accepted into the Guild of St. Luke in Antwerp at the age of twelve. He became master of the guild in 1608. In 1611 he went to Italy and Spain for ten years, studied in Rome and then returned to Flanders. Here he assisted Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) with paintings for the Jesuit church in his home town.
