    Ginna Brand grew up in a small town on the Ohio River south of Pittsburgh in the 1930's. She attended Kent State University were she earned a degree in art education. While at Kent she met her husband, David Brand.

    Ginna later attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, where she received a degree in painting and then went on to become a Professor of Drawing and Painting at the school. In 1974 she took up the position of head of the art education program for the New Gallery in Cleveland (now the Museum of Contemporary Art), she continued to enrich the lives of others through art.
