    The son of a notary, Guerrieri took up painting at the age of seventeen, copying models from Barocci di Fossombrone and Simone de Magistris. In 1606 he moved to Rome (he would stay there for about twelve years) where he was fascinated by Caravaggio's innovations. His return home in 1619 coincided with an updating of his style under the influence of the Bolognese models of Domenichino and Gu
