    Giuseppe Aureli was born in 1858 and passed away in 1929. In 1881, Aureli studied at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome with Pietro Gabrini and Cesare Maccari. In 1883, he already exhibited in Naples and Rome, then he participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, such as the universal exhibitions of Paris and Chicago in 1899 and 1893.

    Since 1894, Giuseppe also began to participate in the exhibitions of the Association of Roman Watercolourists. Aureli first gained a reputation as a history painter and portrait painter of the Italian royal family, but his work later focused on harem scenes and exotic beauties.
