Gonzalo Bilbao Y Martinez was a Spanish painter who began his career in 1880 and traveled extensively throughout Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Paris, and Munich. He worked as a painting teacher and was a successor to Jiménez de Aranda at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungary in Seville.

Bilbao was known for his Castizo painting style, which depicted colorful Andalusian life and landscapes, as well as figure and portrait painting. He won numerous awards and medals for his work, including a gold medal in the Internationals of Berlin, Munich, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, San Francisco, and Panama.
