    Gottfried Mairwöger used abstraction as a universal pictorial language: the effect of nature with its light moods, its richness in color and its contrasts has been realized in its own unique way. They are beautiful pictures; Beautiful in its effect, beautiful in its construction, beautiful in its colors and forms, beautiful in its depth and truthfulness.

    Mairwöger studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1971 with Josef Mikl and Wolfgang Hollegha. While still studying, he was contracted by the prestigious Ulysses Gallery. This was followed by a meteoric rise: exhibitions in Europe and the USA, attention from important art critics such as Clement Greenberg, as well as numerous purchases of museums and collectors estab...
