    Watercolorist. Born in Santa Rosa, CA on May 9, 1885, the daughter of Vine Hill residents, Ida and Nathaniel Griffith. Artistically inclined at an early age, Grace began painting while at Cogswell Polytechnic High School in San Francisco. She later studied landscape painting with several noted local artists including L. P. Latimer. Prior to 1920 she and her sister, Alice, maintained an art studio in Hawaii for two years. During her early life she was the wife of Charles B. Allison and sometimes painted under the name Allison Griffith." In 1919 the family home burned and with it many of her early paintings. Her father operated a successful fruit ranch and was credited with introducing the Gravenstein apple into the Sonoma area. He was a
