Gracie is the daughter of the well-respected desert artist George Ward Tjungurrayi who mentored her on how to paint, along with her mother Nyungawarra Ward Napurrula. Together they passed onto Gracie their sacred Dreaming stories of their land, which is the inspiration for her paintings. Gracie originally adopted the typical Pintupi dot painting technique using a subtle palette inspired by the colors of her father's homelands.
