    German painter and graphic artist born in 1933 in Meißen. Apprenticeship as modeller at the state porcelain manufactory Meißen (1949-53). Studied at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) Leipzig (1953-58) under Emil Koch and Bernhard Heisig. Freelance in Leipzig, active as an exhibition designer and graphic artist for Agra-Markkleeberg (GDR agricultural exhibition). Co-founder in 1972 and director of Grafikbörse Leipzig (1976-82). Lecturer in the youth studio of the Lindenaumuseum Altenburg (1989-92). Teaching position at HGB Leipzig (1990). Received various honours, including the Art Prize of the City of Leipzig in 1981.
