    Johann (Hans) Larwin (1873-1938)

    Born December 6, 1873 in Vienna, Austria, he died November 18, 1938 in Vienna. A painter of landscapes (e.g. views of Vienna), genre scenes and portraits, he was a student at the Wiener Akademie and his teachers there were August Eisenmenger and Christian Griepenkerl. He was a member of the Wiener Künstlerhaus since 1902. In 1908 he was awarded the "Kaiserpreis" (prize of the emperor). From 1922 to 1924 he stayed in Chicago, Illinois and exhibited at the Art Institute, the Palette and Chisel Club, as well as other venues in Memphis and Milwaukee.
