Hans Olde decided late to follow in the footsteps of his father, the painter Hans Olde (1855-1917). Only when 28 year old he began to draw. In 1923, he dropped out of his history and philosophy classes to go to Munich and attend the private art school of Hans Hofmann. In 1978 he received the gift of honor by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. He was dedicated to painting until his death in 1987.
