    Hans Platschek was born in Berlin in 1923. In 1939 the family emigrated to Uruguay. Platschek began to study at the School of Art in Montevideo. In 1948 he held his first solo exhibition, a little later he took part in the 1st Biennial of Sao Paolo.

    In 1953 he returned to Germany. When traveling through Europe he made acquaintance with Max Ernst, Hans Arp and Asger Jorn. From 1955-63 he lived in Munich, where he came into contact with the work of the artist group CoBrA and S.P.U.R. that introduced him to the Art Informel. His later works, however, became figurative again.

    Since 1958 he exhibited at the 29th Venice Biennale, the documenta II. In Kassel, and the 5th Biennial of Sao Paolo.&nb...
