    Hans Salzmann was a German painter and graphic artist born in 1900 in Frankfurt/Oder. He completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer from 1914-18 and later studied at the Grand Ducal Saxon College in Weimar with Albert Brendel and Alexander Olbricht from 1921-27. He became a master student with Hugo Gugg in 1927. During World War II, he served in the war and was held captive. He was active in Weimar and was a member of the Lucas Cranach Artists' Cooperative.
