    Harold Vincent Skene (1883-1978)

    The following was written by the artist for the Denver Public Library Western History Department-June, 1964:

    "Harold Vincent Skene was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, June 19, 1883. Attended schools in eastern Massachusetts. Graduated Harvard University School of Architecture in 1906.

    Studied with Robert Alexander Graham. Attended Denver Art Academy, Broadmoor Art Academy, Colorado Springs. Assistant Allen Tupper True.

    Painted rural New England and East coast. Traveled and painted in England, France, and Switzerland. Painted chiefly Colorado and neighboring states and West Coast.

    Exhibited Denver Art Museum and Broadmoor Art Academy. Now residing and painting the Western scene in Denver".
