    The Regensburg-born artist Heinrich Lang (1838-1891) was a painter, draftsman and illustrator of the 19th century with a passion for horse images and battle scenes. Lang studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich and went to gestates in Württemberg and Hungary on his own to study the anatomy and behavior of horse. That way these animals were his favored motifs: He painted single horse, horses in groups, paintings in combination with men, as well as the battle scenes.
