    Heinz Kreutz was born in 1923 in Frankfurt, Germany and successfully completed an education in photography in 1940. He was drafted in the Second World War, but was wounded and hospitalized. He then worked as a cooper and photographer. He turned to abstract painting in 1948.

    Since 1975 he lives in Antdorf, Bavaria. His works show influence of Tachism (Art Informel) and Japanese calligraphy and are usually classified as German Informel. Kreutz is also a founding member of the artist's collective 'Quadriga' (1952) which helped propel German art back to the front lines of avant-gardism once the war was over....
