    The artist was a French sculptor born in 1858 in Flers-lez-Lille. He studied under René Fache at the Academy of Valenciennes and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris under Jules Cavelier. He won several prizes and awards for his work, including a travel grant from the Ministry of Education and Fine Arts for his group "Perseus" and a first prize in the Salon of 1895 for his marble group "Bacchante and Satyre". He designed several public monuments in collaboration with architect Henri Guillaume. He passed away in Paris in 1927.
