    Herbert Meyer was born in 1882. He studied at the Art Students League in New York City with J. Twachtman, H. S. Mowbray and F. V. DuMond. Meyer was an Associate member in 1939 and later became a full member of the National Academy of Design, as well as a member of the Salmagundi Club, New York Watercolor Club, American Watercolor Society and the Southern Vermont Artists.

    Exhibition venues included Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C., the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Macbeth Gallery in New York City.
