Asides his studies he took private drawing and painting classes from the artist Otto Fischer-Lamberg. As of 1949, he was in contact with the artists Max Pechstein and Karl Hofer. In 1952, Bachmann's works were shown in Berlin for the first time, and he consequently decided to move there in 1953. In 1957, he received the Berlin Art Prize. In the same year, he started teaching at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin where he received his professorship in 1961. The Foundation Moritzburg in Halle, Germany owns 22 works from Bachmann’s late period.... Read full biography
