    Josse-Lambert (Hubert) Bellis (Brussels, 6 January 1831 - Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, 16 April 1902) was a Belgian art and decorative painter from the 19th century who mainly painted flowers and still lifes.

    He was born as the son of Jean Lambert Bellis and Jeanne Marie Possé (or Gossé) and married Ernstine Josephine Haentjens.

    Bellis studied with François-Joseph Navez from 1846 to 1857 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels; he was also a pupil of Henri De Coene.

    Bellis was in the first place decoration painter. Together with his brother Charles-Louis Bellis, he founded a business at the Brandhoutkaai 31 in Brussels in 1857. The following year, a private school for painters arrived at the first floor of the decoratio...
