    Landscape painter, active in Cleveland from 1898 to 1927. He was born in Cherry Valley July 28, 1860 a son and a pupil of Edward D. Howard. In 1883 he opened a shop in Orwell for carriage, ornamental and scenery painting, then moved south in 1887 or 1888 to Warren. He may have received additional training there, for from 1891 to 1897 he was the teacher of "painting, drawing and sketching from nature" at Hiram College. In 1897 he moved into William J. White's studio in the Cleveland City Hall. In that year two of his watercolors were selected for inclusion in the First Annual Exhibition of the Society of Western Artists, and two others were shown at the Art Institute of Chicago.
