    Humberto Jaimes Sánchez (San Cristóbal, Táchira state, June 25, 1930-Caracas, June 18, 2003) was a Venezuelan painter, engraver, designer and teacher. He is considered one of the most important artists in the history of art in Venezuela in the second half of the 20th century.

    His contribution to the art of his country took place during a period of economic and cultural growth, marked by the rise of modern trends that in general defined the aesthetic profile in Latin America. His work began to gain notoriety after establishing himself in Paris in 1955.
