Ibarra Dela Rosa
  • Biography

Ibarra Dela Rosa was a Filipino artist who pioneered meticulous Impressionism in the Philippine art landscape. He was notable for his highly impressionistic works that border on the surreal and his pointillist-like brushstrokes where blots of acrylic splashes on board, which he called “wipings,” that lends a pure abstract experience to the audience. He was born in the Philippines and created the Intramuros Series in 1973 and the Fort Santiago Series in 1974 to eternalize the glory of local historical landmarks. In 1972, a year after creating the acrylic painting titled Right Side of San Agustin Church, he became a recipient of the highly coveted Thirteen Artists Award from the Cultural Center of the Philippines
