    Landscape painter. In 1871 he entered the Academy of Arts as a volunteer student. Three years later, after receiving a silver medal for landscape sketches, he began studying in the landscape class of Baron M.P. Klodt. In 1878 he was awarded a small gold medal for the painting “Morning”. In 1879 he graduated from the Academy with the title of artist of the first degree and the right to a pensioner's trip. From 1880 to 1884 traveled to the cities of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland. During this time, he created a large number of life studies, written under the influence of French artists.
