    Isa Smiler (1921 – 1986)

    A prominent Inuit* Canadian sculptor, carver, draftsman, painter, and writer, Isa Smiler (aka: Isa Aqiattusuk Smiler) (disc number* E9-706) was born in Inukjuak (then called Port Harrison), Quebec (on the eastern shore of Hudson Bay), where he lived most of his life and died. His works have been featured in many important exhibitions and they are in the permanent collections of numerous museums including the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City).
