Ivan Ivanovitch Godlevsky was born in 1908, in Dobromerici, Russia. Ivan studied at the art school of Mirgorod. In 1927, he moved to the Kiev Art School and followed lectures on Art Nouveau with Fedir Krychevsky. Afterwards, Ivan attended the Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg, under Semen L'vovic Abugov, Aleksandr Aleksandrovic Osmerkin and Viktor Michajlovic. Ivan Godlevsky was a professor at the University of Applied Arts from 1949 to 1956. Among others, Ivan has been regarded as a Russian Fauvist.
