    Jacob Willem Gruyter was a Dutch painter and etcher, known for being the son of the marine painter Willem Gruyter. He was a pupil of J.H. Koekkoek in Amsterdam and was admitted to the Amsterdam Academy in 1845. From 1868 to 1871, he was active in Bremerhaven. His works can be found in various museums such as the Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, and other locations in Rotterdam, Bremen, and Rostock.
