Genre painter Jakob Emmanuel Gaisser was born in Augsburg, Germany, in 1825. Jakob had his first painting lessons under Johann Geyer at the Polytechnic School in Augsburg. In 1842, he studied at the Munich Academy under Clemens Zimmerman and Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld. Jakob then went on to teach at the Holiday Continuation School back in Augsburg. In 1863, Jakob Gaisser returned to Munich in order to devote himself fully to painting, charged that same year the exhibitions of artists association. Many of Jakob's works were published during his lifetime as postcards and in magazines. Jakob Emmanuel Gaisser was the father of Max Gaisser. Jakob died in 1899, in Munich.
