  • Biography

    James Blake studied art at Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles and Texas Christian University. He married Cornelia Cummins in 1963, and served in the United States Army 1956 - 1958.

    James had his first one-person art exhibition in at the Electra Carlin Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas in 1961. In a career that spans four decades, and has taken him to Italy and France on a regular basis as well as the mountains of Colorado and the exotic backstreets of Eastern European or Africa, he incessantly makes discoveries to refresh and broaden his vision.

    In Paris, where he has lived for extended periods, for the past fifteen years, he has found inspiration in the city's gardens and parks.
